Where to do it

The Victoria Falls
Viewing the Victoria Falls from the Zambian side has become much more common in recent years. The Falls are in full spate at the end of the rainy season, Mar/April, and their driest during low water Oct/Nov. Microlight and helicopter flights are a fantastic way to view the Falls. For the more energetic there are many adrenalin pumping activities including white water rafting, bungy jumping and gorge swinging!

Livingstone
This old colonial town, a bit down at heel, has an eclectic mix of old and new buildings. There is a sprawling local market and small museum to visit. Within a few miles of Livingstone you can stay in small, luxurious river lodges from where you can visit the Falls, visit the local game park, and enjoy spa treatments.

Lower Zambezi National Park
This picturesque park is a seasonal destination between April and November. Lion, leopard and hyena are often seen. Wild dog are also spotted at certain times. During the dry season the game is largely concentrated along the valley floor, the banks of the river and islands in the Zambezi River. Canoeing is a great way to get up close and personal with the game.

South Luangwa National Park
Open year-round, both the dry and wet (emerald) season offers great game sightings. Leopard viewing is some of the best in Zambia and this park has one of the highest populations of hippo in Africa. Lions are plentiful and the excitement of tracking lions and seeing them on a walking safari is unparalleled. Very often they roam in prides of up to 30.

North Luangwa Park
A remote and little visited park, safaris in North Luangwa concentrate on small groups on walking safaris, very little driving is done here. The Mwaleshi River is an important natural feature which flows permanently. Cookson’s wildebeest and Thornicroft’s giraffe are endemic to the South and North Luangwa parks and over 400 species of bird have been recorded here.

Kafue National Park
A huge area, two and a half times the size of South Luangwa, Kafue is relatively little visited in comparison. However, it is opening up now and offers a wide variety of game viewing. The Busanga Plains is home to plains game such as puku, red lechwe, buffalo and wildebeest, followed by their predators, most notably lion. Cheetah and wild dog can also to be seen.
