Namibia
Namibia is a country of compelling and dramatic beauty, from the fiery orange sculpted dunes in the south, to the remote and arid desert landscape of the Skeleton Coast.
Whilst there is game to be seen in Etosha, and more remote areas of Namibia, it is not generally considered to be a game destination. Its appeal lies rather in the extraordinary, ever-changing landscape, and the challenges which this harsh environment creates for its wildlife and nature.
The Himba people are one of the few remaining nomadic pastoralists to be found in Africa. A visit to a Himba settlement is an insight into a disappearing world.
A flying safari is an excellent way to be able to understand the country’s topography, and capture the beauty of the landscape. Soaring over sand dunes, and swooping down to get a closer look at the shipwrecks and seal colonies along the Skeleton Coast, is an unforgettable experience.
Alternatively, self-drive in Namibia is a joy, with remarkably little traffic to contend with. The options are to stay in lodges or camps of your choosing, or to hire a vehicle together with a roof-tent, allowing complete independence to explore at leisure.
