Where to do it

Chobe National Park & Savuti
Extending from the Chobe and Linyanti Rivers to the Moremi Reserve, and encompassing Savuti, this area is rich in wildlife. During the dry season large herds of elephant are attracted to the river. Game viewing is by 4WD or on the river when elephant are often seen swimming, or fish eagles swooping down to the water to spear their prey. Superb bird watching, and larger than usual elephant and buffalo herds are also seen here.

Linyanti & Selinda Reserve
The highlight of the Linyanti and Selinda area is the predomination of predators and large concentrations of game, particularly elephant and buffalo. Sable and roan antelope, lion, leopard and wild dog are among the wildlife that can be seen in the Linyanti Reserve area. The marshes are home to red lechwe, sitatunga, hippo, crocodiles and spectacular birdlife. Some of the camps offer motorboat and mokoro trips in addition to daytime and night game drives.

Okavango Delta
The Okavango Delta is created by Angolan floodwaters seeping into the dry Kalahari sands, forming one of the world’s few major inland deltas. The unique waterways and islands which make up the delta provide magnificent game viewing and unhurried exploration through the papyrus fringed channels which support a variety of birdlife, hippo and water adapted antelope such as the sitatunga.  Moremi Game Reserve lies in the heart of the Okavango with Chief’s Island at its north-eastern tip. This is a prime game area, especially for lion and leopard sightings.

Magadikgdi Pans, Kalahari
This huge salt pan is the remains of an ancient inland lake. During the wet season the lake comes alive, attracting migrating wildebeest and zebra, and hosts of flamingoes. In the dry season explore the pan on a quad bike, finding Stone Age tools lying on the surface.  Desert adapted species such as brown hyena and meerkats are likely to be seen, but this is not predominantly a game destination – rather a place to soak up the extraordinary experience of being one of a handful of people in an area the size of Switzerland.
